What is Lifestyle Medicine?

While our current healthcare system is designed as a reactive measure to treat acute illnesses, the reality is that chronic illnesses are what plague our current society. The good news is that more than 90% of these chronic diseases are preventable using lifestyle modifications. In fact, “unhealthy lifestyle behaviours are at the root of the global burden of noncommunicable diseases and account for about 63% of all deaths.”*

Lifestyle Medicine is not just another fad or quick-fix solution. It’s a holistic approach that focuses on the power of healthy habits and conscious choices to prevent, manage, and even reverse chronic diseases. Our goal at LIC LAB is to help guide you and provide tools using lifestyle medicine, including prescriptions for exercise, restorative sleep, and stress management. By helping patients analyze their entire lifestyle and unconscious habits, we encourage them to become and active participant of their healthy journey, take back ownership of their lives, make positive choices to improve not only their physical healthy but also their mental and emotional wellbeing. LIC LAB has been on the forefront of lifestyle medicine since 2016; in fact, our founder created a comprehensive lifestyle management program in 2018, before the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and its specialty board certification were even created. We are passionate about lifestyle medicine and about making it the priority in our healthcare system today.
